Something truly magical happens when people congregate to sing. With or without backing music, the levels of harmonies raise our spirits and nourish the soul. We have lots of organised ensembles of singers locally, with professional groups, faith based congregations, community based initiatives and group singing in the workplace.
Our new monthly Choir Night on the fourth Wednesday of the month brings the best of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland’s choirs to the theatre’s intimate and immersive stage so you get the chance to hear them close up and personal. This month’s choir is:-
Red Leicester Choir – The city’s socialist choir. They are an enthusiastic group of about 30 people with a passion for singing historical and contemporary songs expressive of social and political protest and of worldwide celebration, struggle and change. They sing at events, both indoors and outdoors, where people gather to celebrate, protest or just make their voices heard. They regularly busk in Leicester to raise money for various local, national and international causes. They sing in unaccompanied four-part harmony. Red Leicester will be donating their ticket proceeds from the event to Leicester Time To Change, a local charity working to reduce the stigma, prejudice and discrimination that surround mental health.
