Something truly magical happens when people congregate to sing. With or without backing music, the levels of harmonies raise our spirits and nourish the soul. We have lots of organised ensembles of singers locally, with professional groups, faith based congregations, community based initiatives and group singing in the workplace.
Our new monthly Choir Night on the fourth Wednesday of the month brings the best of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland’s choirs to the theatre’s intimate and immersive stage so you get the chance to hear them close up and personal. This month’s choir is:-
Leicester Amika Choir – Award-winning choir led by Musical Director Una May Olomolaiye, is a friendly, diverse, community choir rehearsing mainly on Saturday afternoons at Soar Valley Music Centre. Their songs are chosen from around the world and are sung in four part harmony. No auditions are needed and teaching is by ear, with tracks available online or on CD so members can listen and learn at home in between meetings and in preparation for performances. There are opportunities for members to learn solos, although there’s no pressure to do this. To find out more, including the rehearsal programme click here.
