Find The Right Words (May)

Jess Green

Finished run

AGES: 14+
TICKETS: £8/£6

Created and compered by JESS GREEN,  Find the Right Words  is now firmly established as one of Leicester’s best spoken word and rap nights, which includes two nationally acclaimed headline acts, ten open mic spots (sign ups from 7.00pm) and the increasingly sought after speed poet spot. The show was nominated for the SABOTEUR AWARDS 2018 and Jess won the BBC EDINBURGH FRINGE SLAM 2018. With the support of the never knowingly mainstream BURNING EYE BOOKS, Jess makes sure you get to hear the UK’s top performance poets making the biggest noise in spoken word. The headliners this month are:-

Grace Cohen – Began writing her diary as a slightly out of love, slightly love-handled 14 year old. Originally from Bristol, she has performed in festivals, bars, and bedrooms around the UK, as well as in The Royal Albert Hall. Though with time her themes and style have grown, her poetry today still provides a wonderfully refreshing, unsullied view on modern womanhood. She is currently working towards her MA at Goldsmiths College, London, and will be releasing her debut collection Calling This Body Home in May with Burning Eye Books.

Kieran King – Salford based spoken word artist. He is best known as the co-creator and former host of popular Manchester spoken word nights such as Evidently, the Word War Slams, and Bang Said The Gun: Manchester. An experienced performer in his own right, Kieren has been writing and performing his work since 2008 and has featured at various festivals and a number of spoken word nights throughout the UK and Europe, including Glastonbury Festival and several performances for Amnesty International and Musicians Without Borders.
