Created and compered by JESS GREEN, Find the Right Words is now firmly established as one of Leicester’s best spoken word and rap nights, which includes two nationally acclaimed headline acts, ten open mic spots (sign ups from 7.00pm) and the increasingly sought after speed poet spot.
The show was nominated for the SABOTEUR AWARDS in 2018 and Jess won the BBC EDINBURGH FRINGE SLAM the same year. With the support of the never knowingly mainstream BURNING EYE BOOKS, Jess makes sure you get to hear the UK’s top performance poets making the biggest noise in spoken word. The headliners this month are:-
Tom Denbigh – The first Bristol Pride Poet Laureate and a BBC 1Extra Emerging Artist Talent Search winner. He has performed at the Royal Albert Hall and festivals around the UK, and has brought poetry to Brighton and London Prides. He is a producer at Milk Poetry and has facilitated writing workshops for groups of students from the UK and abroad (he is particularly proud of his work with queer young people).
Carmina Masoliver – Writer from south London, who has been has been sharing her writing on the page and stage since 2006, with features across the UK at festivals such as Latitude, Bestival, and Lovebox, and events such as Bang Said the Gun. She holds a BA in English Literature and an MA in Creative Entrepreneurship. Founder of She Grrrowls, member of the Burn After Reading community and teacher of English as a foreign language.
Veg’AN Love pop-up kitchen serving delicious vegan pies and pizzas from 6.00pm onwards (Info). You can pre-order your food on-line when you purchase your tickets or pay by card/cash on the night.
Government advice means we are now closed until further notice. We’re heartbroken for our lovely theatre, our magnificent artists, our loyal audiences & volunteers & all our comrades in the industry. Love to you all. ❤️
