GENRE:

Created and compered by Jess Green,  Find the Right Words  is now firmly established as one of Leicester’s best spoken word and rap nights. The show includes two nationally acclaimed headline acts, ten open mic spots (sign ups from 7.30pm) and the increasingly sought after speed poet spot.

With past headliners including Hollie McNish, Buddy Wakefield, Jackie Hagan, Mark Grist, Harry Baker and Megan Beech, Jess makes sure you get to hear the UK’s top performance poets making the biggest noise in spoken word. The headliners this month are:-

Bohdan Piasecki – Poet from Poland based in Birmingham. A committed performer, he has taken his poems from the upstairs room in an Eastbourne pub to the main stage of the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, from underground Tokyo clubs to tramways in Paris, from a bookshop in Beijing to an airfield in Germany, from niche podcasts to BBC Radio. In the UK, he regularly features at the country’s most exciting spoken word nights, festivals, and readings. He enjoys the creative chaos of big field festivals just as much as the composed concentration of literary events.

Katie Bonna – Actress, poet and writer for stage and screen. Her one-woman show All The Things I Lied About premiered to critical acclaim at the Paines Plough Roundabout at Summerhall, Edinburgh, in August 2016. The show transferred to Soho Theatre in April 2017, where it was nominated for two Off-Westend Awards (Best Female Performance and Most Promising Playwright) and toured the UK in Autumn 2017. Her play Dirty Great Love Story (co-written with Richard Marsh) transferred to The Arts Theatre in London’s West End in January 2017.
