Created and compered by Jess Green,  Find the Right Words  is now firmly established as one of Leicester’s best spoken word and rap nights, which includes two nationally acclaimed headline acts, ten open mic spots (sign ups from 7.00pm) and the increasingly sought after speed poet spot. The show was nominated for the Saboteur Awards 2018 and Jess won the BBC Edinburgh Fringe Slam 2018.  With the support of the never knowingly mainstream Burning Eye Books, Jess makes sure you get to hear the UK’s top performance poets making the biggest noise in spoken word. The headliners this month are:-

Ciarán Hodgers – Winner of the Sean Dunne Young Writers Award 2010, the International Pangaea Poetry Slam and Word War 3 Slam Champion, Irish poet Ciarán Hodgers has performed across the UK and Ireland. Having cut his teeth in Cheshire, Manchester and Salford he has performed at Guy Garvey’s Meltdown Festival in the Southbank Centre, Lingo Fest, the London Irish Centre, the John Ryland’s Library, Threshold, FLARE and exhibited his experimental prose poem 4/3 in Amsterdam’s NEU NOW Festival.

Katie Watson – Is a little bit wonky, but she’s a lot more comfortable with that than she used to be. A feminist, disabled, queer poet who’s writing explores on her own constantly evolving identities and experiences, she tackles the themes of social exclusion, divergence and inequality through poems about relationships, politics and ever-perilous public transport.
